Quote of the Day

“Baby, you’re like lightning in a bottle. I won’t let you go now that I’ve got it. And I need is to be struck by your electric love.”

-Electric Love (another great song by BØRNS)

Persephone’s girls

My lovely friend Evie has described the “rape age” that we live in today with mythology (I adore mythology – a lost art) and you should definitely give it a read!

letters from a broken person

we are Persephone’s girls.

the girls born with summer in our

touch,

honey coating our lips.

we are the girls raised taught to plant flowers

in our hearts.

the girls whose kisses leave you feeling you got

kissed by the sun.

we are the girls who believe that everyone has

the same sunshine hearts

in a world safe and kind for us to live in.

we are the happiest girls…

and we are tricked into thinking

it will always stay that way.

it happened all too quick.

we were only eleven years old

cartwheeling in the yard when all we felt were

his hands dragging us into his car.

that was they day we discovered that some suns

fade away.

he told us his name was Hades

and that he loves us very much,

how he always wanted a sunshine girl.

a craving, a yearning

to touch.

he locked us…

Song Challenge Day 2

I’m going to pretend I didn’t skip a day.

Thanks again to OY30 and TheLittleMagicGirl for the nomination!

I’ll just nominate the first name that pops up in my notifications, which goes to InfiniteZip. By the way, your poetry is awesome.

So today’s song – and it took me a while to decide – is Church by Chase Atantic.

And while you’re on SoundCloud, you should check out the rest of Chase Atlantic’s songs. I’ll just post the links to everything. Which doesn’t, of course, mean you have to listen to it. But you do. And I’m not forcing you to, just think of it as … a strong sense of coercion.

Song Challenge

Thank you to OY30 and storiesbystacy for the nomination!

The Rules:

  • Post a song a day for five consecutive days.
  • Post what the lyrics mean to you (optional).
  • Post the name of the song and video.
  • Nominate 1 or 2 bloggers each day of the challenge.

Anyway, asking me to pick 5 songs is torture, so….

let’s do this!

Today’s song is American Money by BØRNS.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLBmqwA4AGc

I love this song because it’s about love and freedom and recklessness and all the ways I want to be in my life.

Honestly I copied the whole thing:

I was there when you fell from the clouds
And landed in the desert
There was a thunder inside of my heart
There was a wonderful pleasure
And like a stallion racing the rain
You rode on the back of my bike
I knew from the song that you sang
You were my lover for life
Oh, there’s no time to sleep
Oh, living in a dream
So take me to the paradise
It’s in your eyes
Green like american money
You taste just right
Sweet like Tennessee honey
And we can run away
Swimming in the sunlight everyday
Paradise, it’s in your eyes
Green like american money
So we took to the Calico road
Running from the weather
There was a highway inside of her eyes
There was a buried treasure
And we got caught in the storm
You started flying a kite
At the end was the key to my heart
You were my lover for life
Oh, there’s no time to sleep
Oh, living in a dream
So take me to the paradise
It’s in your eyes
Green like american money
You taste just right
Sweet like Tennessee honey
And we can run away
Swimming in the sunlight everyday
Paradise, it’s in your eyes
Green like american money
We carved our love in the mountainside
We soaked our hearts in the rain
And I, waited my whole life, for you
So take me to the paradise
It’s in your eyes
Green like american money
You taste just right
Sweet like Tennessee honey
And we can run away
Swimming in the sunlight everyday
Paradise, it’s in your eyes
Green like american money
I nominate Evie for this – I know you don’t like tags and awards, but music. I won’t hate if you don’t do it though. ❤💕💖

The Fierce One

She is the one everyone looks to

She was strong –

A fire raged inside her

So bright it shone through to the outside.

She had grown

From strong to powerful

From pretty to beautiful

From quiet to fierce leader

From shy to temptress

She was something else

A rarity

A marvel

A revolution

So when she turned her head of fiery curls

And asked you what you were waiting for

How could you do anything but follow her?
